Clyde Robinson – Obituary

Clyde Robinson, age 92 years, a resident of rural Simpson, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, September 20, 2017, at 6:35 PM near his home.

Clyde was born January 13, 1925 near Simpson, Illinois. He was the son of Andrew Jackson & Mary Myrtle (Palmer) Robinson.

On May 30, 1942, Clyde was united in marriage to Susie J. White at Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2013.

Clyde is survived by: his children: Carol (Ronald) Zderad of Willow Springs, Philip (Cindy) Robinson of Simpson, Diana Anderson of Evansville, Indiana, Sherry (James) Hall of Eddyville, Vicki (Chuck) Aly of Simpson, Kathy (Rodger) Davis of Navarre, Florida, Tracy (Lori) Robinson of Creal Springs, and Christi (Les) Buie of Ozark; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Clyde was also anticipating the birth of a great grandchild in April 2018.

In addition to his parents and wife, Clyde was preceded in death by: a brother – Leo Robinson, 4 sisters: Eloise Robinson Jennings, Hazel Robinson Bradley, Effie Robinson, Georgia Robinson Brown, and a son-in-law: Jim Anderson.

Clyde was a graduate of the Robbs High School. He served in the United States Navy during the second World War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Seaman 1st Class.

Clyde was a self-employed carpenter throughout his working career.

He had a lifelong love of sports and particularly enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. Clyde was an avid checker player and a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Clyde loved music, was an accomplished songwriter, and played various musical instruments by ear. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing.

He was a member of the Glendale United Methodist Church.

A service honoring the life of Clyde Robinson will be conducted Monday afternoon, September 25, 2017, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery in Pope County.

Visitation will be held from 11 AM – 1 PM Monday, September 25, 2017, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
