Sylvia L. Swale, age 74 years, a resident of rural Vienna and a former resident of Brockton, Massachusetts, passed away Friday afternoon, August 4, 2017, at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Sylvia was born September 23, 1942 in Brockton, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Alonzo and Blanch (Hobson) Morse.
Sylvia was formerly united in marriage to John W. Swale.
She is survived by: her children – Susan (Paul) Owen of Carver, Massachusetts, Robin (Russ) Laine of Florida, Karen Jones of Hyde Park, Massachusetts, Sharon Swale of New Bedford, Massachusetts, John (Lisa Glover) Swale of Taunton, Massachusetts and Darlene (Terry) Warren of Vienna; 15 grandchildren – Amanda, Jared, Keith, Hollie, Jake, Zachary, Courtney, Nicholas, Nicole, Colton, Megen, Justine, Emily, Gregory, and Melissa; 6 great grandchildren – Lily, Holden, Jasmine, Aurora, Kayden, and Tristan; a brother – David (Beverly) Morse of Washington; 2 sisters – Doris Drake of Plymouth, Massachusetts and Jeanne (Vince) Leonard of Alaska; as well as a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her infant twin sister – Shirley Morse; a granddaughter – Cari Laine; and a brother – Donald Morse.
Sylvia had been employed by the State of Massachusetts as a health care provider in a home for the developmentally disabled.
She enjoyed knitting and crochet as well as shopping. Sylvia was devoted to her family and particularly cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was of the Christian faith.
A service honoring the life of Sylvia L. Swale will be conducted Tuesday evening, August 8, 2017, at 7 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor John Warren will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 5 Pm – 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
