Johnny Lloyd Felker, age 80 years, a resident of rural Karnak, passed away Tuesday morning, August 8, 2017, at 5:15 AM at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, Illinois.
Johnny was born June 11, 1937 near Belknap, in Johnson County, Illinois to John Franklin Felker and May Estella (Keys).
On June 25, 1960, Johnny was united in marriage to Barbara Iris Jones.
Johnny graduated from Vienna High School in the class of 1955. He later served in the U.S. Army in the medic corps. He was employed for many years by Main Brothers Box and Lumber Company in Karnak. Later, he worked for Allied Signal (now Honeywell) in Metropolis until his retirement.
Johnny enjoyed horseback riding, hunting and camping. He is fondly remembered for love of “piddling.”
Johnny is survived by: his wife, Barbara Iris (Jones) Felker of Karnak; their children – Brian Keith (Sharon) Felker of Karnak, Karen Sue Felker of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Kelly Dawn (Jack) Waddoups of Metropolis; and 2 sisters – Alene Huckleberry and Imogene Simmons both of Vienna.
Grandpa will be sadly missed by his grandchildren: Kayla Felker (Mark) Sauerbrunn of Karnak, Travis (Angela) Felker of Metropolis, Monica (Bill) Jobe of Clarksville, Tennessee, Chris, Mariah, Anthony and Katelyn Williams as well as Tessa (Wayne) Bates all of Metropolis; and great grandchildren – Allie, Hannah, and McKenzie Sauerbrunn of Karnak, David Keith Felker of Metropolis, Seth Jobe of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Braedon, Trevor, Cobey and Joslynn Oetjen all of Metropolis.
In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by: an infant brother, James Oliver Felker, as well as a brother, Clinton Dean Felker; 2 brothers-in-law – Gene Huckleberry and Sam Simmons; and a granddaughter – Stephanie Lynn Williams.
A service honoring the life of Johnny L. Felker will be conducted Friday, August 11, 2017, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Dean Hamilton will officiate. Burial will be in the Anderson Cemetery in the Boaz community.
Visitation will be held from 11 AM – 1 PM Friday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
