Jo Ann Elliott – Obituary

Jo Ann Elliott, age 79 years, a resident of Vienna, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, July 17, 2017, at 8:19 AM at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.

Jo Ann was born December 5, 1937 in the Belknap community. She was the daughter of John H. Crawford and Minabelle (Wallace) Crawford.

On August 1, 1955, Jo Ann was united in marriage to William “Bill” Elliott in Biloxi, Mississippi.  He survives.

In addition to her husband, Jo Ann is survived by:  2 sons – Tim (his wife, Melody) Elliott and Mark (his wife, Beth) Elliott all of Vienna; grandchildren – Zachary (his wife, Emily) Elliott of Sikeston, Missouri, Kelsi Ingle and Levi Ingle both of Vienna; a sister – Ruth (her husband, Bob) Johnson of Patoka; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by: 2 sisters – June Newman and Clara McHugh.

Jo Ann was a 1955 graduate of Vienna High School.  She was a homemaker and assisted in the operation of the family farm  Jo Ann enjoyed sewing and gardening.  She loved animals and cared for a number of family dogs and cats through the years.  Jo Ann took particular pleasure in watching and supporting her grandson, Zachary, during his school athletic career.

Jo Ann was a longtime faithful member of the Vienna First Christian Church.  She had taught both children and adult Sunday school classes and actively served on the bereavement committee.  Jo Ann was also a member of the Johnson County Homemaker’s Extension.

A service honoring the life of Jo Ann Elliott will be held Thursday afternoon, July 20, 2017, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  Pastor Les Chamberlain will officiate.  Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, July 19, 2017, from 5 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
