Elks plan Flag Day celebration

The Elks lodge of Johnson County would like to extend an invitation to all patriots of Southern Illinois. They will be holding our Flag Day celebration on Sunday, June 11, at the Vienna City Park with a community gathering and potluck.

Bring your U.S. flags and help them fill the park with a symbol of American unity.

A march of flags around the park will be conducted starting around 2:00 p.m. and ending in a mass pledge allegiance at the flag pole.

Please stand with us in our symbol of unity and show that our flag will not waver in the face of separatism and national uncertainty.

The Elks’ focus for Flag Day is appreciation of the symbol of national unity and the people who serve to keep our republic united.

They request veterans, law enforcement, EMS and other public servants wear their uniforms or scrubs for the march of flags.

Elks members will also be collecting non-perishable food items for the VA Food Pantry. Your help is greatly appreciated.
