Bruce “Spike” Bishop – Obituary

Bruce “Spike” Bishop, 94, of Karnak, passed away at 10:36 P.M. Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY.

Bruce was born February 23, 1923 in Karnak.  He was united in marriage with Evelyn Sanders on December 9, 1942.  Bruce served in the United States Army during WWII as a medic.  He worked for many years for Main Brothers Box and Lumber in Karnak and later for Shawnee Community College in Ullin.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Karnak and was an avid golfer.

Bruce is survived by one daughter, Donna  (her husband, Raymond) Lippert of Karnak; one grandson, Shannon (his wife, Brenda) Lippert of Danville, IL; two great-granddaughters, Elyse Lippert of Oakwood, IL and Mia Goulding of Danville, IL; one sister, Louise (her husband, Bob) Eastwood of Karnak; several neices and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Sanders Bishop; parents, Luther and Minnie Helmig Bishop; two brothers, Bill and Buddy Bishop; one sister Margaree Hunter.

Funeral services honoring Mr. Bruce “Spike” Bishop were held Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak.  Interment was at the Cypress Cemetery.  Rev. Dean West officiated.
