Lady Eagles softball in action

On Monday, April 10, the Lady Eagles faced the Century Centurions in a non-conference game.

The Lady Eagles led the game by scoring 3 runs in the first inning, to maintain a 3-0 lead.

Century was able to hop back into the ballgame by scoring 3 runs in the top of the 3rd inning, only to give up 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to the Lady Eagles.

VHS sophomore Taylor Lowry was having a great pitching performance as she was dealing for the Eagles, holding the Centurions scoreless throughout the rest of the game.

The Lady Eagles, up 9-3 in the bottom of the 6th inning, were able to get the job done, beating the Centurions early at the end of 6 innings, after the Eagles scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to take the 13-3 lead.

The team did a phenomenal job from the plate having 11 team-total hits and 0 combined errors, playing superb defense from the field.

Senior Rachel Kindhart and sophomore Haleigh Keeling both batted in 2 runs and went 2 for 5 from the plate. Lowry went 3 for 5 from the plate, batting in 2 RBI’s and went the distance getting the win from the mound. She pitched 6 innings and only allowed 2 hits.

On Tuesday, April 11, the Lady Eagles faced the Trico Pioneers in a conference game match at home.

The Eagles played a hard game, only to fall short to the Trico Pioneers in a score of 11-8.

Kindhart had a solid performance from the mound doing all she could, almost coming away with the win.

Junior Kayci Tanner had 2 hits, along with 2 RBIs for the Eagles.

Senior Adrienne Bullock belted a homerun and had 3 RBIs.

On Wednesday, April 12, the Lady Eagles faced Carrier Mills in a non-conference game.

The Eagles started off slow, losing 3-2 in the top of the 4th innings but switched gears as they tacked on 6 total runs in the bottom of 4th to take the lead 8-3.

After gaining the lead the Eagles didn’t hold back, dominating Carrier Mills in 6 innings.

With a score of 13-3, Eagles grabbed the win.

Lowry got the win for the Eagles from the hill, pitching 6 solid innings with 7 strikeouts.

Kindhart lead the team batting going 4 for 4, with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored.

RBI leaders for the game included sophomore Jaiden Sanders with 2, Tanner with 3 and Lowry with 2.

The Eagles had a conference rematch against the Trico Pioneers on Thursday, April 13, at Trico. The Pioneers came out on top with a 9-0 victory over the Eagles.

The Lady Eagles wrapped up the week with a 2-2 record, making their overall record now 3-9.

The Lady Eagles are to play two conference games against Zeigler-Royalton on Tuesday, April 18, at Zeigler and Thursday, April 20, at home.
