Faye I. Kerley, age 92 years, a resident of Metropolis, Illinois and a former resident of Simpson, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 5, 2017, at 3:30 PM at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.
Faye was born November 16, 1924 in Herrin, Illinois. She was the 2nd of 10 children born to Orlan and Lassie (Shrum) Kerley.
Faye is survived by: 2 sisters – Wilma Murphy and Letha Breeden both of Vienna; 2 brothers – Roy (his wife, Ann) Kerley of Simpson and Rillis Leo (his wife, Lillian) Kerley of Vienna; a dear friend who Faye considered as a daughter, Carmen Waldon of Joppa, along with her children – Kendra and “Camey Boy.” Faye is also survived by a sister-in-law, Carol Kerley of Vienna, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including a dear friend at Southgate, Mr. Keistler.
In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by 2 infant sisters – Millie Florene Kerley and Betty Lou Kerley as well as 2 brothers – Donald Kerley and Otis Kerley and a sister – Frances Kerley.
Faye attended the McKee Public School. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and cooking when she resided in the family home. Later, during the time she lived in the nursing home, Faye made many craft items and participated in a number of the resident activities. Faye was of the Baptist faith.
A service honoring the life of Faye Kerley will be held Sunday afternoon, April 9, 2017, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor David Faulkner will officiate. Burial will be in the Rock Springs Cemetery near Simpson.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday afternoon from 12 Noon – 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home.
