Roberta M. Petty, age 84, a resident of Karnak and a former resident of Vienna, Illinois, passed away Saturday morning, March 4, 2017, at the Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.
Roberta was born June 21, 1932 near Grantsburg, Illinois. She was the daughter of Wiley R. and Pruda Elizabeth (Tapley) Morris.
Roberta is survived by: a daughter – Lynn (her husband, Rodney) Williams of Grantsburg; grandchildren – Ryan Williams of Grantsburg, Richard Williams of Karnak, Becky Williams Bell of Paducah; great grandchildren – Trevor Williams, Samantha Williams, Kyle Ellis, Nicki Ellis, Conner Meadows, Rayleigh Meadows, and Brynlee Johnson; a sister – Glenna Henson of Vienna; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by: 5 brothers – Bill, George, Jim, Sam, and Bob Morris; and a sister – Ruth McClanahan.
Roberta worked as an in-home health care provider and was employed by the Shawnee Alliance for Seniors.
Roberta was a member of the Ohio Chapel United Methodist Church near Grand Chain. She was also a member of the former Banner Chapter # 614 Order of the Eastern Star and had served several terms as Worthy Matron. Additionally, Roberta was a member of the Beggs-Gurley VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
As per Roberta’s wishes, a private graveside service was conducted at the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
