Pauline Trovillion Kleckler, affectionately known by many as “Aunt P” was born August 28, 1929 on the family farm near Grantsburg, Illinois. She departed this life Thursday morning, March 30, 2017, at 3:14 AM at Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna. At the time of her passing, Pauline had attained the age of 87 years.
Pauline was formerly united in marriage to Jay Smith until his death. Later, she was married and divorced to Louis Kleckler.
Pauline is survived by: a son – Mike Smith of Arizona; a daughter – Tracy (her husband, John) Freel of Grand Blanc, Michigan; 3 grandchildren – Ethan, Wesley, Karli Jo; a dear and special niece, Myrla Miller of Vienna, as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by: a son – Mark L. Kleckler; a sister – Evelyn Bowlanowski; and 8 brothers – Adolph Trovillion, Ferris ‘Bill’ Trovillion, Ned Trovillion, William ‘Wayne’ Trovillion, Ezra ‘Bud’ Trovillion, Aubrey ‘Pill’ Trovillion and Glenn Trovillion.
Pauline, along with her family, moved to Flint, Michigan when she was in her teens. She was employed for many years by the J.L. Hudson Department Store. After suffering a stroke, Pauline returned to live in Vienna. In 1986, she began her new career as the much loved barmaid at the Beehive Lounge near Buncombe. She enjoyed her job and especially all who became her dear friends – which were many. Pauline was a most generous and colorful character! She loved to laugh, tease and add a little excitement when things were too quiet! Her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and the rest of her family were her greatest pride and joy.
Pauline’s granddaughter, Karli, was especially close as she helped raise and shape her into the lovely, talented and friendly young lady she is today. Although living states apart, she and her grandson, Ethan, kept the phone lines busy with conversations of his numerous activities and she would fill him on all the latest gossip. Truly precious memories!
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be conducted Saturday, April 1, 2017, from 4 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. A prayer service will be conducted at 8 PM by Pastor Tommy Gray.
