Mary L. Furgeson, age 92 years, a resident of Greenville, Michigan and a former resident of Goreville, passed away Sunday morning, March 12, 2017, at Metron of Greenville.
Mary was born March 4, 1925 in Goodwin, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Gilbert Anthony “Jake” Speckem and Beulah Lee (Isabel) Speckem.
Mary was first united in marriage to Joseph A. McDonald. Later, she married Cleatus D. Furgeson.
Mary is survived by: 2 daughters – Annette (her husband, Roger) Grzybowski of Greenville, Michigan and Linda Cook of Vienna; a son – Aubrey (his wife, Linda) McDonald of Walker, Michigan; a sister – Lorene Cummings of Niles, Michigan; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Mary was preceded in death by: 2 sons – James Merle McDonald and Dennis Harold Furgeson; 3 grandsons – Brian Furgeson, Donald Cook and John Aubrey McDonald; a brother and 5 sisters.
Mary was a homemaker. She enjoyed watching Tri-State Christian Television and listening to the Gaither Homecoming series videos. Mary is fondly remembered for her wonderful cooking skills.
Mary was baptized at and was a member of the Goreville First Baptist Church.
A funeral service honoring the life of Mary Furgeson will be conducted Friday, March 17, 2017, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Ron Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be in the Wise-Robinson Cemetery near Ozark. The committal service will be conducted by Robert Ferguson.
Visitation will be conducted Thursday, March 16, 2017, from 6 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
