Cleo V. Ethridge Cravens, age 95 years, a resident of Vienna, passed away Wednesday morning, March 1, 2017, at 6:08 AM at the Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna.
Cleo was born December 20, 1921 in Cairo, Illinois. She was the second of three children born to Walter Hillis Robinson and Myrtle (Kerley) Robinson.
On October 25, 1941, Cleo was united in marriage to Ollie J. Ethridge in Tennessee. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1972. She was later united in marriage to Theodore Cravens in 1973 in Marion, Illinois and he preceded her in death in 1981.
Cleo is survived by: her children – Vince O. (his wife, Susie) Ethridge of Easley, South Carolina, Fred (his wife, Sandy) Ethridge and Brenda Reynolds all of Vienna; 8 grandchildren – Dan (his wife, Angela) Ethridge, Ted Ethridge, Russ Ethridge, Mike (his wife, Sabrina) Ethridge, Tommy (Elizabeth Richard) Ethridge, Sherri (her husband, Jason) Buchanan, Rick (his wife, Jamie) Reynolds and Jaimie (her husband, Eddie) Hagene; 9 great grandchildren; a brother – Esco (his wife, Fran) Robinson of Christopher; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Cleo was preceded in death by a sister – Irmal L. Childress.
Cleo was a graduate of the Simpson High School. She began her working career as a telephone switchboard operator in Vienna. Cleo later transferred to the G.T.E. office in Marion where she worked as a telephone operator for over 25 years until her retirement. Cleo was a member of the G.T.E. Pioneers.
Cleo was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vienna. She enjoyed making embroidered handcrafts and quilting. Cleo cherished time spent with her loving family.
A service honoring the life of Cleo Ethridge Cravens will be conducted Saturday morning, March 4, 2017, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Dr. Ed Hollis will officiate. Burial will follow in the Busby Chapel Cemetery, south of Goreville.
Visitation will be conducted from 6 PM – 8 PM Friday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
