Tommie Lee Ross, age 67 years, a resident of Ocala, Florida and a former resident of Johnson County, Illinois, passed away February 24, 2017 at Legacy House (a hospice care center) in Ocala.
Tommie Lee was born to Abe Linden and Lola Myrrel (Owens) Ross on December 24, 1949 in Harrisburg, Illinois. He grew up in New Burnside, Illinois, then lived in Tucson, Arizona for over 20 years. He then lived in Orlando, Florida and Cumming, Georgia. His work was in the Petroleum and computer areas of business.
Tommie Lee graduated from Vienna High School, then attended Southeast Illinois College, Kankakee Community College, and Pima College in Tucson, Arizona.
He is survived by a nephew, Jeffry and Tina Barnes of Grand Prairie, Texas, and their two children, Jeffry Jr. and Carol Ann and Jeffry Barnes daughter Racheal & Jim Hernandez of Watertown TN and their three children, Sadie, Isaac, and Zayden. He is also survived by many cousins in Illinois, Nevada and Georgia..
Preceding him in death are his parents, a sister, Carol Simmons Barnes and her first son, Rickey Lee Simmons. A brother-in-law, Richard Eugene Simmons. His maternal and paternal grand
parents, Charles and Laura (Mifflin) Owens, Rocky and Anna (Womack) Ross. Many Aunts and Uncles.
A graveside service honoring the life of Tommie Ross will be conducted at 10 AM Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Maplewood Cemetery, 1400 North Court Street, Marion, Illinois. Pastor Matt Snell will officiate.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
