Lora L. Colboth, age 75 years, a resident of rural Tunnel Hill, passed away Tuesday evening, October 11, 2016, at 8:32 PM at Herrin Hospital.
Lora was born October 9, 1941 in Creal Springs, Illinois. She was the daughter of Noah Johns and Nettie (Girtman) Johns.
Lora was united in marriage to Jerry Colboth on May 3, 1985 in Goreville, Illinois. He survives.
In addition to her husband, Lora is survived by: her children – Kenneth Dean (his wife, Connie) Dodd of Eldridge, Alabama, Marcy Borum of Mobile, Alabama, and LaDonna Marie Borum of Creal Springs; a stepson – Allen Jo (Amanda Johnson) Colboth of Marion; 5 grandchildren – Tim (his wife, Jessica) Dodd, Heather (her husband, Jason) Smith, LaShonna Louella (her husband, Chris) Wallace, Abbigail Jo Haase, and Paisley Johnson; 10 great grandchildren – Karson Clowers, McCain Clowers, Olivia Dodd, Kylee Nix, Maddy Nix, Luke Dodd, Georgia Smith, Jack Smith, Cayden Wallace & Kinsey Wallace; 2 sisters – Faye Billingsley of Herrin and Maxine Johnson of Florida; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends. Lora is also survived by her beloved canine companion “Scooter.”
In addition to her parents, Lora was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Dodd; 2 brothers – Junior Johns and Jerry Johns; 2 sisters – Christine Tanner and May Henderson and an infant brother – Mitchell Lee Johns.
Lora received her L.P.N. (Licensed Practical Nurse) training from John A. Logan College. She was formerly employed by the Marion Memorial Hospital, Fountain Nursing Home and Creal Springs Nursing Home. She had previously worked at Norge, Inc. in Herrin.
Lora was a member of the Creal Springs First Baptist Church. She enjoyed painting ceramic figurines, working crossword puzzles, and sewing.
A funeral service honoring the life of Lora L. Colboth will be conducted Friday afternoon, October 14, 2016, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Dewayne Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in the County Line Cemetery near Creal Springs.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, October 13, 2016, from 5 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
