Clara L. Chapman, age 83 years, a resident of Vienna, passed away Friday morning, September 9, 2016, at 4:34 AM at Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna.
Clara was born February 15, 1933 in Enochville, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Clyde P. and Mary M. (Fink) Weddington.
On October 29, 1955, Clara was united in marriage to Lowell Loren Chapman in Enochville, North Carolina. He preceded her in death on January 26, 1989.
Survivors include: her sons – Lowell (his wife, Tena) Chapman, Jr. of Vienna and Ivan (his wife, Linda) Chapman of Simpson; 3 grandchildren – Wendall Chapman and Loretta Chapman both of Virginia and Keisha Renee (her husband, Dustin) Joyner of Paducah, Kentucky; 3 great grandchildren – Jacob Holcomb, Preston Jensen and Spencer Joyner; and a brother – Paul Weddington of Kannapolis, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents and husband, Clara was preceded in death by: a daughter – Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Chapman; 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Clara attended the Enochville, North Carolina public schools. She was a homemaker and a skilled seamstress and had provided custom sewing services for many families through the years. Clara also loved music and played the piano by ear. She was a member of the Lutheran faith.
Clara is fondly remembered as a loving Mother and Grandmother.
A graveside service will be conducted Monday morning, September 12, 2016, at 10 AM at Berea Cemetery, 1701 Berea Church Road, Vienna, Illinois. Pastor Billy Thomas will officiate.
There will be no public visitation. Those attending the service are asked to gather at the cemetery at 9:45 AM Monday.
