Inez Ross – Obituary

Ross, Inez 001Inez Ross, age 99 years, a resident of rural Vienna (the Bloomfield community), passed away Sunday morning, July 3, 2016, at 1:07 AM at her home.

Inez was born August 10, 1916 in the Sanburn Community in Johnson County Illinois. She was the daughter of Lloyd and Mattie (Taylor) Haden.

Inez was united in marriage to John D. “Buck” Ross on July 9, 1933 in Golconda. He preceded her in death on November 24, 1997.

Survivors include: her children – Barbara Ackmann of Buncombe, Richard (his wife, Evelyn) Ross of Vienna, Lowell Ross of Simpson, Louise (her husband, Hughye) Thomas of Simpson and Jim (his wife, Kay) Ross of Vienna; grandchildren – Mike (his wife, Christine) Ross, Mitch (his wife, Linda) Ross, Marsh (his wife, Jennie) Ross, Mona (her husband, Mike) Reeder, Chad Sampson, Brian (his wife, Melinda) Sampson, Ty (his wife, Sherri) Ross, Scott (his wife, Vicki) Ross, Michelle (her husband, Bobby) Meyers, Mattie Ross and April Head, Maggie Ross, Adam (his wife, Angela) Ackmann, Tami (her husband, Gary) Patton, Mark (his wife, Jennifer) Ross, Lisa (her husband, Lee) Miller, John (his wife Tammy) Thomas, Violet Thomas, and Ross Thomas; great-grandchildren – Alex Ross, Nathaniel Ross, Gabriel Ross, Josh Berkland, Patricia & Cyle Johns, Natasha Ross, Savannah Ross, Marissa (her husband, Ben) Emery, Amber Smith, Fayth Smith, Ryan Reeder, Rebecca Reeder, Randy Reeder, Clay Sampson, Cole Sampson, Kassie (her husband, Shane) Taylor, Cory Ross, Cady Ross, Kodee Ross, Brittany (her husband, Dakota) Johnson, Jake Ross, Kaylyn Meyers, Ryan Meyers, Summitt Ross, Kimberly (her husband, Adam) Shoemaker, Brock Ackmann, Samantha (her husband, Scott) Collins, Sabrina Ackmann, Jason Via, Justin (his wife, Michelle) Via, Kerry (his wife, Kylene) Fleeger, Ryan (his wife, Stephanie) Patton, Aaron Ross, Emily Ross, Shealyn Browder, Madison Browder, Larrah Miller and Lennah Miller, Tom (his wife, Jen) Timmerman, Catherine (her husband, Brent) Davis, Alex Obermeyer and Anthony Obermeyer; great-great grandchildren – Hayleigh Johns, Jayden Johns, Jaycie Ray Johns, Brylee Cox, Isaiah Shoemaker, Wyatt Shoemaker, Payton Shoemaker, Shamus Collins, Jacob Via, Matthew Via, Sophie Patton, Elaina Patton, Caelin Timmerman, Logan Davis, Ethan Davis, Aurora Davis, and Bradyn; a brother – Marvin Haden; and 2 sisters – Betty Willyard & Clara Drews all of Vienna; a granddaughter-in-law- Mary Wilson; 2 sisters-in-law – Ora Nell Ross and Lorraine Wilke; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends. Inez was also anticipating the birth of a great-great granddaughter in November 2016.

In addition to her parents and husband, Inez was preceded in death by a daughter – Ruth Sampson; a grandson – Allan David Ackmann; 2 sons-in-law – Art Ackmann and Guy Sampson; a daughter-in-law – Sue Ross; and 4 brothers – Raymond, Donnie, Earl Gene and Randall Haden.

Inez had attended the Bloomfield Public School. In her youth, she was a member of Taylor United Methodist Church and more recently had attended Simpson Baptist Church. Inez had been a member of the Red Hat Society.

Inez was a devoted homemaker. She is remembered for her hospitality and took pleasure in cooking for her family and friends. She was an avid gardener and tirelessly tended her vegetable garden and enjoyed working along with her family in the preserving of the garden’s abundance. Inez, along with her husband Buck, had also enjoyed spending many pleasant hours fishing.

A Funeral Service honoring the life of Inez Ross will be held Friday, July 8, 2016, at 1 PM at the Simpson Baptist Church, 7095 IL Route 147, Simpson, Illinois. Brother Matt Snell will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery north of Vienna.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 7, 2016, from 5 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna and also Friday, July 8, 2016, from 12 Noon – 1 PM at the Simpson Baptist Church.
