Tim Blankenship, age 60 years, a resident of rural Vienna, passed away Saturday morning, May 14, 2016, at 7:56 a.m. at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Illinois.
Tim was born August 20, 1955 in Effingham, Illinois. He was the son of Dale and Julia Marie “Julie” (Penrod) Blankenship.
Tim was united in marriage to Donnie Camden in 1980 in Creal Springs. She survives.
Tim is also survived by: his children – Cody (his wife, Tosha) Blankenship of Goreville, Chelsea (her husband, Bob) Hall of Metropolis, Skylar Blankenship, Kaysea Blankenship, Danny Blankenship, Walter Blankenship, LaKota Blankenship, and Cady Blankenship all at home; 4 grandchildren – Bentley, Liam, Ali, and Raelynn; 3 sisters: Elizabeth Hancock of Vienna, Ann Jackson of Creal Springs, and Eva Ely of Springfield; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives, friends and his church family.
In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by a brother – James Allen.
Tim was a 1973 graduate of Vienna High School. Tim loved horses and team roping. He was a member of the United States Team Roping Championship (U.S.T.R.C.). Tim worked as a farrier throughout the area.
Tim was a dedicated and devoted Christian. He loved to share his faith and witness with others. For the past 18 years, he had served as the pastor of the New Burnside Community Church. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Tim also loved music and singing.
Tim enjoyed restoring classic cars, coon hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He particularly cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
A Celebration of the Life of Tim Blankenship will be held Wednesday afternoon, May 18, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the New Burnside Community Church, 43 West 3rd St., New Burnside, Illinois. Brother Ronald Aissie and Brother Shane Harrison will officiate. Burial will be in the Church of God Cemetery north of Cypress.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna and from 12 to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
