Frances Evans Moore – Obituary

Moore, Frances Evans (obituary picture) copyFrances Evans Moore passed into her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at 1:28 AM at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.

She had just celebrated her 97th birthday with family. She was born May 18, 1919 to Thomas C. “Bill” Newby and Frances (Sutliff) Newby in Johnson County Illinois. Frances married the love of her life, Kenneth Evans, on October 23, 1937 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 28, 1993. She later married F.G. Moore and he preceded her in death in 2001.

Frances had attended Johnson County Public Schools and later attended New Columbia High School.

She is survived by her loving family – 2 daughters: Marilyn Whitnel, and her husband Everett, of Vienna and Karen Brumley, and her husband Richard, of rural Belknap; a granddaughter – Tina (Whitnel) Stroud and her husband Glenn and their family – Jake Stroud and Travis Stroud, and his wife Heather, and their children – Lottie & Walyn; Brett Brumley, and his wife Angela, and their daughter – Alyssa; Sean Whitnel, and his wife Falon, and their children – Owen, Paycee, Shiloh, Cash and Kolt; one special step-son – Fred Moore and his wife Linda and one special step-daughter – Joyce Balderston and her husband Phil. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, many friends, her church family and her special family – the staff at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, to mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a son – James Lewis Evans and his wife Karen Ruth, and one brother – Wayne C. Newby.

Frances was a member and faithful attendant of First Christian Church, Vienna, as long as her health allowed. She enjoyed reading, playing Bingo, and watching quiz shows on television. Her time with her family was the most important to her.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon, May 29, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Berea Cemetery, southeast of Vienna. Brother Les Chamberlain will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
