Sharilyn Jane Wright, age 81 years, a resident of rural Ullin, passed away Sunday morning, April 24, 2016, at 3:30 AM at her home.
Sharilyn was born March 3, 1935 in Ullin, Illinois. She was the daughter of Olen H. Crippen, Sr. and Mabel (Sutton) Crippen.
Sharilyn was united in marriage to Howard Leo Wright on October 1, 1955 in Ullin. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1998.
She is survived by: her children – Leslie (his wife, Beverly) Wright of Ullin, Rhonda (Rick Dunaway) Riley of Anna, Rick (his wife, Paula) Wright of Ullin; 8 grandchildren – Jeff (his wife, Lacy) Wright of Grand Chain, Brandy (her husband, Dustin) Thurston of Pulaski, Zachary (his wife, Jennifer) Riley of Marion, Nicholas Riley, Paige Dirden, and Seth Dirden all of Ullin, and Colton Dunaway and Danielle Dunaway of Anna; 8 great grandchildren – Riley Wright, Henry Wright, Emma Thurston, Nolan Thurnston, Michelle Wolford, Jackson Lee Riley, Bailey Nicole Riley and Emily Grace Riley; 2 brothers – Carl Crippen and Jack Crippen both of Ullin; and a dear friend – Billie Max Lentz of Dongola and his family – daughters: Pamela Jean Lentz of Dongola and Tanna Jo Roberts of Raleigh, Missouri as well as grandchildren – Micala Dawkins and Ian Barnes; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sharilyn was preceded in death by: 2 sisters – Delores Coursey and Eloise Parrott; and 5 brothers – Leland Crippen, Olen H. Crippen, Jr., Gerald Crippen, Harold Crippen, and Charles “Sonny” Crippen.
Sharilyn was a 1953 graduate of Ullin High School.
She was a devoted homemaker. Additionally, Sharilyn had worked as a cook at the Century High School as well as serving as secretary at Osman Truck Sales.
Sharilyn was a member of the Metropolis Community of Christ Church. She cherished time spent with her family and friends and particularly enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sharilyn also enjoyed music, singing, dancing and camping.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, April 26, 2016, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Minister Gordon R. Ashley and Minister Marvin Kleinau will officiate. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery near Ullin.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
