George “Bud” Stout, age 77, of rural Vienna was born on August 15, 1938, on the family farm near Buncombe and passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family and dearest friends.
Bud was a farmer and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed planting his seeds in the spring and gathering his crops in the fall. He enjoyed hunting many different types of animals as well as going fishing with his beloved wife Sally.
Bud also enjoyed going to all types of sporting events whether it be baseball, softball or racing race cars as long as there was a kid or someone he knew that he could watch and “holler” at he, was always right there.
Bud was an active member of the Buncombe Grade School Board for over 40 years; he was the longest serving school board member in the State of Illinois.
He also served on the Lake Egypt water board, was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #399 and was a member of Saline Masonic Lodge #339 A.F. & A.M.
Bud had been employed at Choate Mental Health Center in Anna for many years, prior to his retirement.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents George and Dovie (Stewart) Stout of Buncombe, as well as his sister and brother-in-law Juanita and Cletus Jones of Stickney, Illinois.
Bud is survived by his wife Sally (Spurlock) Stout, their three children Kelly and Rodney Shires of Raleigh, Il.; Brenda and Robert Ames of Vienna; and Allen Stout of Vienna; and a niece Donna Jones of North Riverside, Il.
Bud also had several grandchildren: Robby Trigg of Vienna, Allison Stout of Vienna, Alex and Cara Stout of Vienna and Justin Ames of Vienna; and several step and great grandchildren: Travis, Ambyer, Taylor, Katie, Jessica, James, Audrey, Cody, Hillary, Matt, Daniel, Caleb, Brayden “side side”, and Micah.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning, April 20, 2016, at 10 A,M, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Jay Franklin will officiate.
Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Buncombe.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, April 19, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be accorded at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
