Jeanne Mathis, age 69 years, a resident of the Big Bay Community, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, February 17, 2016, at 9:58 PM at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.
Jeanne was born October 15, 1946 in Reevesville, Illinois. She was the daughter of James and Dora (Wieneke) Bazor.
On October 17, 1964, Jeanne was united in marriage to William Ray Mathis at the Reevesville Assembly of God Church. He survives.
In addition to her husband, Jeanne is also survived by: her daughter – Janet (John) Latham of Reevesville; a granddaughter – Serena Shreves of Reevesville; a brother – Jimmy (Wanda) Bazor of Metropolis; and a sister – Sue (David) Brenningmeyer of Anna.
In addition to her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Jeanne was a graduate of the Vienna High School. She had also attended the Paducah Beauty School where she also was employed as a manager. In 1973, Jeanne opened her beauty shop in Reevesville which she faithfully operated until the time of her passing. Jeanne is remembered for her devotion to each and every one of her clients. She was loved by all who knew her.
Jeanne was a member of the Reevesville Community Church and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
A graveside service honoring the life of Jeanne Mathis will be conducted Saturday morning, February 20, 2016, at 11 AM at the Reevesville Cemetery. Those attending the service are asked to gather at the cemetery at 10:30 AM.
There will be no public visitation.
