Veronica “Lynne” Davis, age 65 years, a resident of Vienna and a former resident of New Haven, passed away Thursday evening, January 21, 2016, at 10:58 PM at Baptist Health in Paducah following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Lynne was born January 22, 1950 in New Haven, Illinois. She was the daughter of Al and Laura Lee (Lawrence) Davis.
Lynne was formerly united in marriage to Dennis Keith McDowell.
Survivors include: her children – Dawn (Bryan) Wendleton of Dublin, California, Shawn McDowell of New Haven, Michael “Mickey” Graville of California, and Stephanie Graville of Las Vegas, Nevada; 8 grandchildren – Justin, Jonah, and Emilee Wendleton, Alexa and Hailey McDowell, and McKenna and Madison Graville; a sister – Vonda Burnam of Vienna; a sister-in-law – Linda Burnam Slone of Cypress; 2 nieces – Katie Ashford and Rachel Stewart; 2 aunts – Leveda Pyle of New Haven and Ilean Downs of Godfrey; cousins – Chris and Regina; a great niece and 2 great nephews – Sydnie Kerley, Will & Wyatt Ashford.
Lynne was preceded in death by her father – Al Davis; her mother – Laura Lee Norris; an infant grandson – Tyler Lee Joiner; and her brother – Terry Burnam.
Lynne was a 1967 graduate of Ridgway High School. She had been employed as a restaurant manager and also was the owner and operator of her own housekeeping business.
Lynne was of the Baptist faith. Locally, she attended the Benton Community Church.
Lynne is remembered by her family as being an excellent cook. Her signature dessert was her coconut cream pie. Lynne also enjoyed traveling and fishing.
A memorial service honoring the life of Veronica “Lynne” Davis will be conducted Tuesday morning, January 26, 2016, at 10 AM at the Benton Community Church, 5050 Reevesville Road, Grantsburg, Illinois. Brother Bob Murley will officiate.
A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, January 26, 2016, at 2 PM at Union Ridge Cemetery, 1102 County Road 355 North, New Haven, Illinois. Brother Buddy Hubbard will officiate.
A private gathering of immediate family and close friends will be conducted at Bailey Funeral Home. However, there will be no public visitation.
