Fire claims the life of a New Burnside man

A New Burnside man was killed early Monday morning, Dec. 21, when the mobile home he was living in caught fire.

The New Burnside Fire Department was called to 113 W. 4th St. in New Burnside at 12:05 a.m. When they arrived the home was fully engulfed by fire.

New Burnside Fatal fireLarry Gene Littleton, Jr., 35, was located inside the structure. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:55 a.m. Monday by Johnson County Coroner David Rockwell.

The coroner does not suspect foul play at this time. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters from Vienna, Stonefort and Carrier Mills assisted at scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.

Funeral arrangements for Larry Littleton, Jr. are pending at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
