Bill was born June 9, 1943 in Massac County Illinois. He was the second of four children born to Paul and Hester (Keef) Henderson.
Bill was united in marriage to Ginny Whatley on May 28, 2010 at the Johnson County Courthouse in Vienna. She survives.
Other survivors include: his children – William (Bennetta) Henderson, Jr. of Grand Rivers, Kentucky, Sheila (Robert) Laudando of Metropolis, Lisa Ann (Homer) Stevens of Metropolis, Shawna (Ricky) Larrison of Melber, Kentucky, Didi (Lance Ogden) Jerdon of Metropolis, Amanda (Tera Gist) Henderson of North Carolina, and Woody Karpik of Vienna; 15 grandchildren – John William Henderson, Michael Klotz, Reuben Lott, Jesse Owens, Krimson Laudando, Kyle Hurst, Kelly Hurst, Anthony Stevens, Abraham Stevens, Angel Jerdon, Faith Ogden, Navaeh Baker, Baylie Baker, Gabryela Gist, and Addison Larrison; a great grandson – Kobe Klotz; a sister – Mary (Fred) Hetzel of Metropolis and a brother – Dennis (Janet) Henderson of Metropolis.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by an infant brother – Paul Henderson.
Bill was a 1959 graduate of the Metropolis High School. He was employed for 38 years as a fork lift operator in the stamping plant of the Ford Motor Company facility in Chicago Heights, Illinois. He retired in 2002.
Bill was an automobile enthusiast. He enjoyed attending car shows. Bill & Ginny enjoyed watching television together, particularly car auctions and Ice Road Truckers.
He was of the Christian faith. Bill is fondly remembered by his family as being a very “colorful” man.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, November 21, 2015, at 5 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Those attending are invited to wear bright and colorful western wear.
Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon from 3 – 5 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home.
