Billy D. Oliver, 84, of Palatka, Florida passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness.
Billy was a native of Tunnel Hill, Illinois and had been a resident of Palatka for the past 62 years, coming from Tunnel Hill. He served honorably in the United States Army with the occupational forces in Germany during the time of the Korean Conflict. His career with the Hudson Pulp and Paper Corp. in Palatka, now Georgia Pacific Corp., spanned from 1954 until 1980 where he held many positions of responsibility. Before declining health he had been an avid sportsman. He enjoyed music and especially playing his guitar. Billy loved the Lord and his family, and he was a good provider. His grandson and great grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He was a Baptist and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Oscar and Opha Oliver; two brothers, Dale Oliver and Vernell Oliver; and a sister, Shirley Redwine.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Mildred Oliver of Palatka; a daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Mike Adams of Palatka; a sister, Bonnie Oliver of Chicago, Illinois; a grandson, Will Adams; and four great grandchildren, Joey, Angelina, Helena and Ben.
Graveside memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Palatka Memorial Gardens with Pastor Charles Litzell officiating. The U.S. Army will bestow military honors.
