Joe was born September 8, 1935 in Winfield, Alabama. He was the son of Clyde Stone Perry and Susie Louise (Smith) Perry.
Joe was united in marriage to Phyllis A. Hill. She preceded him in death on November 18, 2013.
Survivors include: his children – Michael Perry of Nashville, Cindy Bunge of Du Quoin, Karen Johnson of Buncombe, and Steve Perry of Vienna; 9 grandchildren – Brittany, Kyle, Willie, Cole, Miranda, Jordan, Jason, Nicole, and Dawn; several great grandchildren; a sister – Pat Greene and a brother – Ray Perry both of Nashville, Tennessee; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Joe was preceded in death by: 3 brothers – Robert, Jim, and Bill Perry and a sister – Inell Fisher.
Joe was employed as an over-the-road truck driver. He worked for Mayflower Van Lines for over 20 years, later working for Atlas Van Lines for approximately 3 years prior to his retirement.
Joe was an avid fisherman. He was also a stock car racing enthusiast. His favorite NASCAR driver was Terry Labonte. Joe was also an avid supporter of his grandchildren’s athletic events and is fondly remembered for his regular attendance at local softball games.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, October 15, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery, north of Vienna.
Visitation will be conducted Wednesday evening, October 14, 2015, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
