Jerry Rule, age 78 years, a resident of rural Ozark, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at 5:25 a.m. at his residence.
Jerry was born June 2, 1937 in Marked Tree, Arkansas. He was the son of David A. and Oma Louise (Roarke) Harris Rule.
Jerry is survived by: his children – Janet Bonert of Spring Valley, Michelle Vanderlee of Calumet City; 7 grandchildren – Amber, Bradley, and Christopher Walesa, Morgan, Autumn, Tommy Vanderlee III, and Eric Halawa; 1 great grandson – Vincent Taliani; and Dawn Skeripski, lifelong partner and loving friend, of Ozark.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by: 3 brothers – Glen, Junior and James W. “J.W.” Rule as well as a sister – Geraldine Morris.
Jerry was a true jack-of-all-trades. He worked a multitude of different jobs throughout the course of his life. He operated 2 restaurants, worked construction, cut timber, farmed and had been a taxi driver.
Jerry was a member of Southern Range Cowboy Church in Goreville.
Jerry was a long time member of the Masonic Lodge. He had a passion for working on lawn mowers, playing music on his guitar and dancing. He was also an avid hunter and especially enjoyed coon hunting.
Masonic Rites will be accorded by the Vienna Masonic Lodge #150 AF&AM Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 11AM with service to follow at the Bailey Funeral Home. Pastor Ed Hollis will officiate.
Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery at Buncombe.
Visitation will be from 10 – 11 a.m. Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
