Carnival, parade, games, car and tractor shows on tap for Fall Festival October 1-4

Girl-ScoutsThe Johnson County Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival will soon be here. The festival will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 1-3, at the Vienna City Park. It is fantastic to see tractors and farmers alike celebrated in the form of a very fun festival. I hope the farmers see fit top showcase their latest purchase from Fastline.

The 2nd annual Pumpkin Run Car Show, sponsored by the City of Vienna, will be held Sunday, Oct. 4, to complete the fun-filled weekend of activities at the park.

The carnival will be open from 5:00-10:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Armbands for the carnival rides are being sold at the Foreman Depot in the city park, SouthernTrust Bank facilities in Vienna and Goreville, and at Legence Bank in Vienna.

Each armband is good for unlimited access to rides during one of four carnival sessions. The sessions run from 5-10 p.m. each evening and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday.

The cost of armbands are $15 in advance through Sept. 30 and $18 thereafter.

Many other popular activities will return with this year�s festival, including the chili cook-off, junior talent show, live entertainment and parade.

A new event for this year will be a corn hole tournament for business owners. Local businesses can enter as many two-person teams as they like. The winning business will receive a travelling trophy, that they keep for one year.

Sizzler2Vendor spaces are still available for anyone wishing to sell merchandise or display information during the 3-day festival. Electrical outlets are limited and available on a first-come first-serve basis.

Lineup for the parade will start at 8 a.m. Saturday morning near the tennis courts at the Vienna High School. Participants will be instructed that morning of their position in the parade.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m., traveling across Rt. 146, around the courthouse square, east on Main Street and ending at the city park. Awards will be presented at the conclusion of the parade at the park.

Rt. 146 (Vine Street), and Rt. 37, from Main to Vine, will be closed during the parade.

The City of Vienna will be sponsoring their first Pumpkin Run Car Show, formerly the Vienna Car Show, Sunday, Oct. 4, in the park beginning at 8:30 a.m.

In conjunction with the Fall Festival, Vienna�s and GorevillTractor-Showe�s FFA Chapters will host their annual Antique Tractor Show. The tractor show will be Saturday, Oct. 3, following the parade, at the park.

Tractor owners/drivers are welcome to participate in Saturday�s parade.
