Lt. Governor Sanguinetti visits Johnson County

Illinois Lt. Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti made a surprise visit to Max Creek Antiques in Vienna late Thursday afternoon, Aug. 27, as shop owner Carol Gerdes was closing her shop on the square.

Sanguinetti stopped in the antique shop after touring the historic Johnson County courthouse, located across the street. She was then going to attend the Union County Fair in Anna.

Sanguinetti was in Johnson County, visiting with elected officials, as part of her and Governor Bruce Rauner’s tour of Southern Illinois, prior to Friday’s opening ceremony of the DuQuoin State.

A more complete story will be posted later and in next week’s edition of The Vienna Times.
