James Richard Woodworth – Obituary

Woodworth, RichardJames Richard Woodworth, 70, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday morning, August 4, 2015 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.

He was born August 11, 1944 in Tunnel Hill, Illinois to Robert and Clethia (Moore) Woodworth. He was the youngest of their twelve children.

Richard is survived by his wife of 49 years Ann (Schell) Woodworth; two sons- Brian (Jacinta) Woodworth and Shawn Woodworth; six grandchildren- Sarah and Michael Woodworth, Travis and Brady Woodworth (his little buddy) and Sophia and Emma Kocher; two sisters- Ruby Corzine and Dorothy Lowery.

Richard also leaves behind many nephews and nieces whom he loved and who thought of him as a second father.

In addition to his parents Richard was preceded in death by his five brothers- Jesse “Joe”, Robert “Bob”, Lee, Ben, and Ray; four sister- Della, Helen, Mary and Marie.

After working for the Railroad, he served in the Illinois Department of Corrections as a correctional officer. Richard retired in the year 2000 after 20 years of service at the Vienna Correctional Center.

Richard was a member of the Simpson Baptist Church, where he proudly served as Deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a proud member of the Vienna Masonic Lodge #150 A.F. & A.M., where he greatly enjoyed serving as Chaplain.

Richard devoted his life to his family, church and many close friends. He will be greatly missed.

Masonic rites will be accorded at 11 AM Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  The funeral service will immediately follow the masonic rites.  Pastor Steven Williams & Pastor Bill Schell will officiate.

Burial will be in the Reynoldsburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday evening, August 7, 2015, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
