Dallas H. “Hoover” Harner – Obituary

Dallas-H-Hoover-Harner-1436103825Dallas H. “Hoover” Harner, age 45 years, a resident of rural Vienna, passed away Friday evening, July 3, 2015, at 7:07 PM at St. Louis University Medical Center.

Hoover was born December 18, 1969 in Paducah, Kentucky. He was the son of Dallas G. & Charlene (Thomas) Harner.

Survivors include: his parents – Dallas and Charlene Harner of Vienna; a daughter – Casey L. (Chris) Yates of Metropolis; 2 grandchildren – Kristina Marie Jennings and Kohlbe Dallas Reinitz; a brother – Charles (Cindy) Harner of Vienna, a sister – Kim (Chris) Bent of Vienna; nieces & nephews – Cyle, Cayla, Dallas, Quinnton “Beaner” and Addison. Hoover is also survived by Tammy Caraker and her sons, Zacharia and Josh, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends. He will also be sadly missed by his beloved dog, Reba.

Hoover was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents – Wayne & Vitrue Thomas; his paternal grandmother – Gail Harner, an uncle – Mickey Harner; and a dear cousin – Julie Harner Thomas.

Hoover was a 1988 graduate of Vienna High School. He had served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion.

Hoover was proud to be an electrician and had worked on various projects.

Hoover was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose – Ashland, Kentucky Lodge #892 as well as Ducks Unlimited. He attended the New Burnside Community Church.

Hoover had a deep love of family and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many types of hunting, particularly deer and duck hunting, fishing, gardening, and golfing. Hoover loved the 4th of July and is remembered as a “pyromaniac” for his love of fireworks, as well as burning brush in general. He enjoyed cartoons and loved to spend time watching them with his grandchildren and nieces. Hoover was also a NASCAR enthusiast and had been a fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday evening, July 8, 2015, at 7 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  Interment will be at a later date in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
