The Johnson County Ambulance Service will soon have a new ambulance in its fleet. A 2015 Ford 4×4 Trauma Hawk has arrived and is waiting for the installation of radios, other medical equipment, and an inspection from IDOT. Ambulance service coordinator Wendi Bailey said the new unit should be in-service in two weeks.
The lettering and markings on the new ambulance are quit different from the red and blue ambulance markings that local people are very familiar with. The new unit features a huge EMS logo on both sides that wrap around to the back doors, and instead of red and blue – it is trimmed in green and beige. The rear design of the ambulance definitely attracts attention to it.
The new vehicle replaces a 2007 ambulance that was purchased used several years ago. Bailey said she hopes to purchase another new ambulance during the next budget year.
