Lowell Robert “Bob” McCall – Obituary

Lowell Robert “Bob” McCall, age 76, a resident of Vienna, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015, at 9:30 p.m. at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center at Lourdes in Paducah, Kentucky.

Bob was born October 2, 1938 in Vienna, Illinois.  He was the son of Oliver Kenneth “O.K.” and Carrie E. (Soper) McCall.

On July 19, 1984, Bob was united in marriage to Brenda (Sevier) at Paducah, Kentucky.  She survives.

Other survivors include: his children – Elizabeth (Jack) Henshaw of the Flatwoods community, rural Simpson, IL, Michael A. (Christina L.) Franklin of Vienna, and Brandi Franklin Taylor of Vienna; 5 grandchildren – Jack (Amber) Henshaw, Jr., James Henshaw, Joe (Tammy) Henshaw, Natalie (Patrick) Linton and William C. Taylor; 6 great grandchildren; and a brother James Donald McCall of Green Castle, Indiana.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by: 2 sons – R. Douglas McCall and Charles L. “Chuck” Franklin; and 2 brothers – Charles McCall and Louis McCall.

Bob was a 1957 graduate of Vienna High School.  He had worked as a union carpenter and later owned and operated the Gulf Service Station at the 4-way stop in Vienna during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.  Along with Bob Morris, Bob constructed and sold “little red barns,” storage buildings.  Bob was employed for 30 years by the State of Illinois.  He retired with the rank of Correctional Sergeant from the Vienna Correctional Center.  During his retirement, Bob pursued his love of farming by assisting the Fairless Family in their farming operation.

Bob was a member of New Columbia Masonic Lodge # 336 A.F. & A.M.  He was also a charter member of the former Vienna Lions Club.  Bob was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Vienna.  In addition to his love of farming, Bob also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
