Virginia Kerley, 83, of Metropolis, passed away at 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Walter Fix officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Springs Cemetery in Simpson.
Virginia Lee Spurlock Married Raymond Andrew Kerley on August 13, 1955, and from this marriage they had three children, William Joseph, Andrea Rae, and Timothy Andrew.
Mrs. Kerley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and faithful friend whose kindness and love will be greatly missed. She was of the Methodist Faith, teaching Sunday school with her youth at Karnak Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Raymond Andrew; three children, Bill Kerley and wife Cathy of Knoxville, TN, Andrea Sommer and husband Kent of Grand Chain, and Timothy Kerley of Metropolis; three grandchildren, Stephanie Robins-Machan and husband Rocky of Paducah, KY, Matthew Kerley of Metropolis, and Christopher Kerley of Evansville, IN; one step-grandson, Kyle Sommer and wife Andrea of Metropolis; one great granddaughter, Lennon Kerley; and one step-great grandson, Caden Sommer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Birdie Spurlock; her brothers, Paul, Bob and Barney Spurlock; and sisters, Maudie Mecum, Lorene Hefner and Lois Schnaare.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11 a.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.
