Five reported injured in Goreville crash

A Tuesday afternoon two-vehicle accident in Goreville injured as many as five people, according to local authorities.

Johnson County emergency personnel were called to the scene of a possible head-on collision in front of Goreville Express on North Broadway a little past 4 p.m.  The scene remained active for more than an hour as crews worked to safely remove the injured and transport to near-by hospitals.

Johnson County and Lake of Egypt ambulance services, the Johnson County Sheriff Department, Goreville Police officers and Illinois State Police troopers all responded to the scene.

According to an ISP trooper on the scene, a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Annette Ruth Maple, and a 2014 Nissan, driven by Brian Shaneyfelt, collided.  No further details were made available at the time of this report.  The extent of the injuries were also not available at the time of this report.
