Virgil W. Walker, age 71 years, a resident of West Paducah, Kentucky and a former resident of Vienna, passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon, April 17 2015, at 1:04 p.m. at Baptist Health in Paducah.
Virgil was born April 24, 1943 in Buncombe, Illinois. He was the youngest child born to Virgil & Leva (Gurley) Walker.
On October 5, 1963, Virgil was united in marriage to Kathy A. (Kerley) at the County Line Baptist Church in the Flatwoods community. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Virgil is survived by: 2 sons – Troy Duane Walker and his wife Krystal and Shaun Lee Walker and his wife Christina, all of Kevil, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren – Courtney Lynn Walker, Aaron Matthew Walker, Zachary Shaun Walker, Emily Nicole Walker and Kiley Trelyn Walker; a great granddaughter – Brooklynn Grace Walker; and a sister – Wilma Gale and her husband Bud of Freeport.
In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by 2 sisters – Bonnie Kerr and Geraldine Billingsley.
Virgil was a graduate of the Vienna High School. He was employed as a sales representative prior to his retirement.
Virgil loved music and singing. He was a member of the gospel quartet “Divine Intervention.” Virgil was also a member of the County Line Baptist Church.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing solitaire on his computer. Virgil is fondly remembered for his love of family. He had coached youth sports and rarely missed one of his sons sporting events during their school careers. Virgil was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, April 21, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor David Faulkner will officiate. Burial will be in the Kerley Cemetery in the Flatwoods community.
Visitation will be conducted from 5 – 8 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
