Mary Katherine J. Gibson – Obituary

Mary KayGoreville – Mary Katherine J. Gibson known to her friends as Mary Kay of Goreville formerly of Collinsville, passed away at 1:45 am on Saturday, April 18, 2015 in Heartland Regional Medical Center, Marion, with her husband by her side.
She was born April 12, 1938, in Collinsville to Albert (Bud) and Ethyl (Riley) Seiner.
She married Gerald (Jerry) W. Gibson on February 18, 1972, they were married 43 years and two months.
Survivors include her husband Jerry, son Charles “Chuck” E. Allred (Neica) of Lake of Egypt, grandchildren Kara Smiley of Madisonville, Kentucky, Robert Taylor Allred (Stevie Lewis) of Pittsburg, Micaela Allred of Lake of Egypt, great grandchildren Becca Kinney of Madisonville, Kentucky, sister Georgine (Lynn) Hays of Collinsville, nieces Cheryl (John) Ridgeway of Maryville, Lisa (Chris) Becherer of Rodenbach, Germany, nephew Lynn Hays III, of Collinsville, great nephews Brenden Becherer, Cody Becherer, great niece Christa Becherer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, uncles and aunts.
Mary Kay worked for Illinois Bell in Collinsville leaving there as an operator supervisor and worked for G.T.E. (Verizon) from February, 1972 to December 31, 1991, when she retired as a cable maintenance dispatcher.  She loved her work and the people she worked with.
She was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Marion, a member of the church Ladies Guild and a past treasurer.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and held a special place in her heart for Becky (Mickey) Blakeley, their daughter Leah (Pat) Smith, son Wyatt all of Madisonville, Kentucky.  She loved her extended family Maureen (Tom) Lochmann, Chris (Vicky) Zaganelli of Collinsville, Phyllis (Joe) Pratt of Plymouth, Michigan and Mari-Louise (Jere) Wilmering of Fairview Heights and all of their children.
The funeral mass will be Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 11 am St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 N. Russell Street, Marion, with Monsignor Thomas Flach officiating.  Burial will follow in Cana Cemetery in Goreville.  Visitation will be Monday evening from 5- 8 PM at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with the prayer service at 4:30 PM.
