Edna L. (Cox) Jerge, age 92 years, a resident of Decatur and a native of the Ozark community, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015, at 10:45 AM at her home.
Edna was born December 10, 1922 at the family home in Ozark. She was the daughter of Sylvester and Polly Ann (Choate) Cox.
Edna was united in marriage to Alvin John Jerge. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: a Son – Alvin Jerge of Decatur, her devoted caregivers – Eddie, Pam & Gail, dear friends- Dorothy Herbert and Linda Wilson, as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Edna was preceded in death by: 4 sisters- Lillie Mae Simmons, Elizabeth Simmons, Maude Cox and Lura Cox; and 3 brothers – Ezra Cox, Edward Cox and Omer Esco Cox.
Edna was employed during the second World War at Conco Industries in Mendota, Illinois. She later worked as a waitress and for General Electric and Decatur Industrial Maintenance.
Edna was of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed spending time with her son Alvin. Edna also enjoyed the outdoors, working in her yard and weeding.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 11 AM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Dennis Smith will officiate.
Burial will be in the Rushing Cemetery in Ozark.
Visitation will be conducted from 10AM-11AM Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
