Cypress family looses home to fire

The home of Chad and Sandra Crippen, of rural Cypress, was completely destroyed by fire Friday night, Feb. 13. The house, located at 7405 Route 37 South, and all of the Crippen’s belongings were a total loss.

The Buncombe Fire Department responded to the call at 6:52 last night. Fire chief Sue Davis said no one was at home when the fire was discovered, and it might have been burning for a while before it was called into 911. No one was injured by the fire.

According to Davis, “When we arrived the house was fully engulfed and the roof had already collapsed.”

The Buncombe department received assistance from the Vienna and Karnak departments. They remained on the scene until 10:30 p.m. Friday night.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
