Ronnie Turner – Obituary

Ronnie-Turner-1421344599Ronnie Turner, age 65 years, a resident of Vienna, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 14, 2015, at 12:25 PM at the home of his daughter and son-in-law Belinda and David Sheffer near Vienna.

Ronnie was born March 9, 1949 in Tunnel Hill, Illinois. He was the son of James Richard Turner and Mary A. Woodworth Turner.

Ronnie was formerly united in marriage to Mary E. Turner Smith.

Survivors include: his children – Belinda (David) Sheffer, Melissa (Chris) Hill, and Mary Lou (Ted) Wheaton all of Vienna; 7 grandchildren –Cody and Damion Wheaton, Paige (Andy) Johnson, Christian Alford, Dustin Sheffer, Brayden and Bailee Hill; 1 sister – Linda Ruschak of Metropolis, IL; a brother-in-law – Ken Thurmond; a dear niece – Pam Fulcher, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by a sister, Lana L. Thurmond.

Ronnie was a veteran of the United States Army. He also worked for many years as a construction laborer. Afterward, he worked for Bob Gallagher in the Massac Memorial Gardens and Cemetery in Metropolis. Ronnie served as the former head of the maintenance department in the former Executive Inn in Paducah, KY, and also worked with Mike Harris in Pro-Tree Service.

Ronnie was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially hunting for ginseng. He also enjoyed hanging out and socializing with his many dear friends and family members.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon, January 18, 2015, at 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Richard Martin will officiate. Burial will be in the Cypress Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be evening Saturday, January 17, 2015, from 5 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
