Lisa Kay Williams Penrod – Obituary

Lisa Kay Williams Penrod, age 45 years, a resident of Cypress, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, January 28, 2015, at 12:22 p.m. at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

Lisa was born August 13, 1969 in Massac County Illinois.  She was the daughter of Vernon Lee Williams and Linda Kay (Goines) Williams.

Lisa was united in marriage to Roger D. Penrod on May 3, 1988 in McCracken County Kentucky.  He survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter – Lacey Dawn Penrod Dodson of Cypress; 2 sons – Shawn Race Penrod of Vienna and Dustin Dale Penrod of Marion; 8 grandchildren – Kaitlyn Marie Dodson, Brayden Larry Wayne Dodson, Cooper Alexander Dodson, Cameron Otis James Dodson Watson, Brooklyn Ann Noelle Penrod, Emma Grace Penrod, Ellie Sarah Grace Penrod, and Mary Ann Futia.  Additionally, Lisa was anticipating the birth of a 9th grandchild in July 2015.

Lisa is also survived by a brother – Darand Lee (Christi) Williams of Vienna; her paternal grandmother – Mary Williams of Vienna; her stepfather – Denny Skelton of Vienna; her mother-in-law – Thelma Penrod of Cypress; her sister-in-law – Kimberly Penrod Beasley and her husband Thomas of Tamms, several nieces – Kailen Williams and Kristen Williams both of Vienna, Jessica Mooreland Carr and her husband Bill of Murphysboro, and Kassandra Beasley of Tamms; a nephew – Dereck Beasley and his wife Pamela Essex Beasley of Tamms; several special aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of other relatives and many dear friends.

Lisa was preceded in death by her father – Vernon Lee Williams on August 6, 1991, her mother – Linda Kay (Goines) Williams Skelton on May 26, 2010, her maternal grandmother – Alice G. (Inman) Goines on December 23, 2001, her paternal grandfather – Paul V. Williams on March 17, 2001, her son-in-law – Brandon L.W. Dodson on August 15, 2010, and her father-in-law – George I. Penrod on September 26, 2007.

Lisa was a 1988 graduate of Century High School.  She had been employed as a Certified Nurses Aid at the Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna for a time. She had also worked at the former Ramada Inn Hotel in Vienna as a housekeeper.  Lisa also was employed for several years as a cook at the Cypress Grade School.

Lisa enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She especially cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.  Lisa was of the Pentecostal faith.

Lisa enjoyed shopping.  She was also an amateur photographer and enjoyed taking pictures and working with and cropping pictures of her family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, January 31, 2015, at 1 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  Pastor Kenny Baker will officiate.  Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery near Dongola.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
