Robert E. “Bob” Reeder – Obituary

Reeder, Bob 001Robert E. “Bob” Reeder, 62, a resident of rural Vienna, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, November 12, 2014, at 9:12 PM at his home.

Bob was born July 12, 1952 in Lawrenceville, Illinois.  He was the son of Royce & Dessie (Robinson) Reeder.

On October 21, 1972, Bob was united in marriage to Kathy L. Hill at Lawrenceville.  She survives.

Other survivors include: His children – Robbie Reeder & Dawn Williams, Kara Reeder and Lena Reeder all of Vienna; 2 granddaughters – Sienna and Gracie Joe Reeder; 2 brothers – Tim (Jeannie) Reeder of Shelburn, Indiana and Mike (Mona) Reeder of Cypress; 3 sisters – Mona (Matt) Akins of Simpson, Marla (Bill) Groaning of Vienna and Marsha (Joe) Nelson of Vienna; a host of nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.

Bob was a graduate of Blackwell High School in Blackwell, Oklahoma.  He was employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections.  Bob began his career in corrections at Stateville Correctional Center at Joliet where he was employed from 1981-1985.  Bob then transferred to the Shawnee Correctional Center at Vienna where he was employed from 1985 until his retirement, with the rank of Sergeant.  In his retirement years, Bob had been employed as a station attendant at the Shell Service Station and later worked as a stocker at Sam’s IGA grocery both in Vienna.

Bob was a member of the County Line Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing and watching classic movies.  Bob was also an avid reader.  He particularly enjoyed reading Stephen King novels.  Bob enjoyed sports and had coached youth teams through the years, including his son’s baseball team.  Bob cherished time spent with family and friends.  He was devoted to his two granddaugthers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, November 15, 2014, at 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.  Bro. Bud McDannel will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.

Visitation will be conducted Friday evening, November 14, 2014, from 6 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
