He was born February 3, 1941 in Buncombe, Illinois, the son of Henry Curtis and Iva Alene (Simmons) Barringer. Curtis married Jean (Girtman) Barringer on December 23, 1960, and she survives.
Curtis was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He worked 11 years at McDonnell-Douglas aircraft. He also worked for ET Simonds and Carpenters Local 638. Curtis was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed riding 4 wheelers and attending his kids and grandkids ballgames.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of Lick Creek; 5 children, Marissa Sue ( Bill) Webb of Goreville, Curtis Dean ( Holly) Barringer of Buncombe, Rhonda Jean (Dallas) Maze of Goreville, Roger Lynn Barringer (Becky Hale) of Buncombe, Melinda Alice (Rob) Zoeckler of Vienna; grandchildren, Nicki (Jarrett) Steinsultz, Matthew Webb, Courtney (Clayton) Penrod, Faith Barringer, Corban Barringer, Katie Beth Barringer, Caleb Barringer, Jamie Maze, Meagan Maze, Madyson Maze, Garrett Barringer, Eli Barringer, Ashley Barringer, Brenley Barringer, Brandi McCuan, Dusty McCuan, Mallory Zoeckler, Natalie Zoeckler; Becky’s children, Dustin and Dacota Knopp; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Betty Newbold of Cissna Park, Illinois; nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Wesley Barringer; grandson, Wesley Maze.
Visitation for James Curtis Barringer will be Friday, November 21, 2014 from 5:00-8:00PM at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.
Friends may call Saturday, November 22, 2014 after 9:30AM at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Crain Funeral Home Anna-Jonesboro, with Rev. Paul Sadler officiating. Interment to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Buncombe.
