Kenneth “Allen” Poe – Obituary

Poe, Kenneth AllenKenneth “Allen” Poe, age 79, of Williamsville, passed away on Sunday October 19, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He is survived by his daughter Robin Asafailo of Williamsville; two granddaughters, Jennifer Zoelzer of Williamsville, Suzi (Josh) Gasparini of Middletown; one grandson Eric (Cassie) Asafailo of Dawson; seven great-grandchildren, Austin & Rylie Cohn, Peyton Kaufmann, Isabella & Aidan Gasparini, and Madison & Dominic Asafailo; two sisters, Juanita Yoswig & Paula Thompson; two brothers, Ralph Poe & Ronnie Poe.

Allen is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara in 2012, and a daughter, Penny, a son, Edgar, and two brothers Robert and Richard Poe.

Allen was born June 20, 1935, in Williamsville, IL, the son of Kenneth and Lucille (Powell) Poe.

Allen married Barbara Whiteside on December 6, 1958.

He was a member of the Riverton Lavely Masonic Lodge, the Eastern Star, and Ansar Shriners. Allen was also a member of the Williamsville United Methodist Church.

Allen worked for Mid-America Trucklines, Allen Freight Lines, and Springfield Tractor Trailer.

He served for the U.S. Army.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 with Masonic Services being held at 7:30 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 2:30 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home. Rev. Dick Piscatelli will be officiating. Burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
