When the Vienna-Goreville football team takes to the field this August, there will be a new face leading them into action.
Long time assistant under Mike Rude, Brian Trambley has been hired as the new head coach for the V-G football team. Trambley was part of each of the V-G football team’s state playoff appearances in the last two years, and has helped the team compile a 23-27 record since its origination in 2009.
Coach Trambley certainly has some big shoes to fill, taking over for Mike Rude, but is ready to take on the challenge saying, “ Yeah there’s pressure, I’m not a hall of fame coach, but I’ve learned a lot from coach Way and Rude through the last two years, and I hope to apply some of their ideas to my coaching strategy.”
Trambley will be faced with the huge challenge of having to fill the holes left by last year’s seniors, including rushing leaders Connor Seavers and Kyefer Cavins.
Trambley is hopeful; however, saying, “There are some big shoes to fill, but we are going to do the best we can, and the boys are doing the best they can to step up in their roles. These boys have all had the taste of the state playoffs, and we are going to do all we can to get back there.”
Trambley and the V-G Eagles will open their season on August 29th at Johnson City, and will return home for their first game at Vienna on September 6th.
