Erma was born December 23, 1926 in Cypress, she was the daughter of Walter & Mabel (Mathis) Turner.
Erma was united in marriage to C.L. McCormick on January 1, 1958 at the Vienna First Baptist Church parsonage. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1987.
Erma is survived by: her sons – Mike McCormick of Champaign and Chris (Cindy) McCormick of Toledo, Ohio; a grandson – Louie (Pam) Roy of Northwood, Ohio; 2 great granddaughters – Chelsea (Simeon) Chelliah of Toledo, Ohio and Aleah Roy of Northwood, Ohio; a dear friend – Rodney Gholson of Vienna; and her faithful canine companion “Tucker.”
In addition to her parents and husband, Erma was preceded in death by a granddaughter – Renee Hudson; a brother-in-law – Howard L. “Knot” McCormick; and her beloved pet “Pugsley.”
Erma was a graduate of the Cypress High School. She served from January 1957 – December 1958 as the Johnson County Clerk. Erma was also the co-owner/operator of Cedar Lake Ranch near Simpson as well as C.L. McCormick’s Little Big Dollar Store in Vienna.
Erma enjoyed making cross-stitched hand crafted items. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family and friends. Erma is remembered for her love of hard work and taking care of her home and lawn. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vienna.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Bill Gholson will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
