Elizabeth A. Black – Obituary

Elizabeth Black Obit 001Elizabeth A. Black, 79, of Johnston City, passed away, 8:40 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2014 at her residence.

Elizabeth was born April 16, 1935 in Vienna to Herbert and Grace (Crayton) Alsip. She was married to Paul Winters, Sr. in Marion, Illinois.

Elizabeth was a very loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family and her Chihuahua “Skeeter”.  She also enjoyed cooking, painting, watching television game shows, going to the River Boat with her sisters and horseback riding with her dear friend Frank.

Survivors include three daughters, Ella (Billy) Gardner and Mary (Fred) Bain both of Johnston City; Connie (Ron) Robinson of Stonefort; one son Paul (Christina) Winters, Jr. of Sidney, MT; 9 grandchildren, Aleshia (Wayne) Davis of Whiteash; Shawn (Sabrina) Gardner of Johnston City; Andrew (Amanda) Shoemaker of Vienna; Ron (Lisa) Robinson, Jr. of Pittsburg; Jennifer (Dan) Moore of Tunnel Hill; Kristina Robinson of Johnston City; Christopher Robinson and fiancé Sarah Forbes of Marion; Jessica (Lance) Nichols of Dallas, TX; Mary Elizabeth Winters of Vienna; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Barnett of DuQuoin; Barbara Walker of Vienna;  Joyce (James) Armor of Selmer, TN; one brother Herbert (Sorita) Alsip, Jr. of Metropolis and longtime love Frank Huff of Goreville.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Stevie Lee Perry; an infant daughter, Paula Ann Winters; her parents; one brother Kenneth Alsip; one sister Alene Solomon; three brothers-in-law, Hallie Solomon, Barney Barnett, Jerry Walker; and one sister-in-law Christine Alsip.

Celebration of Life services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2014 in Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Rev. Shorty Alsip officiating.  Inurnment will follow at War Trace Cemetery in Vienna.  Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
