Darrell Sanders, 88, of Karnak, died at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, July 15, 2014 at the Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.
Darrell was born April 29, 1926 in Vienna, IL. He was a graduate of Karnak High School. Darrell was a veteran of the US Navy having served in WWII. He had retired as an independant truck driver. Darrell was a 32nd Degree Mason having been a member of the Belknap Masonic Lodge #822 and he was of the Baptist faith.
Darrell is survived by two sons, Jerry and Diane Sanders of Arlington, WA, Danial and Marilyn Sanders of Columbus, IN; one sister, Anna and Charles Barnett of Karnak; two granddaughters, Daniel Sanders of Columbus IN, Lori and Alan Morrison of Columbus, IN; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Wallace Sanders; parents, Roscoe and Winifred McKenzie Sanders; four brothers, Bill, James, Harold and Jack Sanders; three sisters, Virginia Snell, Evelyn Bishop and Betty Little.
Per the family’s request, cremation was accorded with services at a later date. Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak has been entrusted with arrangements.
