Buncombe woman seriously injured in traffic crash Thursday morning

Morris-vehicleA traffic crash involving  three vehicles and a John Deere 6-row planter resulted in one driver being seriously injured Thursday morning, July 10, in western Johnson County. The accident occurred at 10:27 a.m.

According to Illinois State Police, Deanna D. Morris, 21, of Buncombe, was westbound on Illinois Rt. 146 in a 2001 Oldsmobile, approximately three miles west of Rt. 37, when she crossed into the eastbound lane.

Morris’ vehicle collided with a John Deere planter that was being towed by Randall D. Myers, 60, of Vienna. Myers was travelling eastbound in a 2012 Jeep Wrangle.

Myer-vehicleThe impact with the planter caused Myers’ vehicle to overturn and catch fire.

A tire from the planter came off due to the collision and struck a 2006 Pontiac Vibe driven by Matthew R. Galloway, 27,  of Louisville, Ill.

Morris was air lifted to an Evansville hospital with serious injuries. Myers and Galloway were not injured.

The Jeep Wrangler was completely destroyed by the fire. The Oldsmobile sustained major damage.

The accident remains under investigation by Illinois State Police, District 22, at Ullin.
