William “Bill” Johnston – Obituary

William “Bill” Johnston, age 67, of Grand Chain, formerly of Cairo, died at 8:25 a.m. Sunday morning, June 1, 2014 at his home in Grand Chain.

Bill was the Superintendent at the Metropolis Country Club, past Chairman of the Horseshoe Lake Ducks Unlimited Chapter and was the former owner of the Riverside Motors in Cairo, IL.  Bill was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Cairo.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer.

He is survived by his wife, Patti Reichert Johnston of Grand Chain; one son, William Hunter Johnston of Philadelphia, PA; his mother, Alice Dunn Johnston of Cairo; one brother, Charles Johnston of Cairo; one sister, Barbara Bauerle of White Hall, MT; two nephews, Danial Johnston and Alex Bauerle.

Bill was preceded in death by his father Hugh R. Johnston.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak with Rev. Steve Heisner officiating.  Interment will follow in the St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery in Grand Chain.  Visitation will be from 5 till 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, June 4, at the funeral home.  To share a memory with the family or to sign the register, please visit our website at www.wilsonfuneralhome1928.com
